The X-600 is meant to be ridden as either a stand-up or sit-down scooter. The seat is mounted on a post that can be easily installed and removed. The post is not secured in the scooter aside from your own weight however, which is fine in most cases, except when you try and lift the scooter by the seat stem.
The X-600 electric scooter has 10″ air-filled tires, which handle most bumps without much problem. This scooter also features dual spring front shocks and a unique rear mono-shock not found on any other scooter. The result is a smooth ride, even over fairly bumpy roads.
The scooter’s 600 watt motor is sufficient to get most people up most hills, although the scooter will slow down considerably is the hill is steep or the rider is heavy (the scooter is rated for riders up to 300 lbs., but if you weight more than 180 lbs, this scooter will slow down considerably up hills.) The X-600 is equipped with front disc brakes and rear drum brakes, which do a decent job of stopping the scooter quickly.
The scooter’s lead-acid battery pack will give you about ten miles of range before it needs recharging, and takes about seven hours to fully recharge. The battery pack is under the footboard of the scooter and is easily accessible should the X-600 need servicing.
The scooter can fold up for transportation, which is handy, but is heavy at 75 lbs. so it’s not really meant to be carried around. The electric motor itself if silent, but the scooter’s chain drive does make a little bit of noise, so the scooter isn’t completely silent.
Maintenance and Reliability
The frame of the X-600 is well-built of high-tensile strength steel, so chances are you aren’t going to have many problems there.
Since this scooter is chain-driven, the scooter’s chain tension may need to be initially and/or occasionally re-adjusted and oiled.
The X-600 has a lead-acid battery pack, which will need eventually need replacing if you use your scooter often. Luckily, while batteries aren’t cheap, the lead-acid kind that run this scooter are inexpensive compared to lithium-ion batteries. In order to extend the battery life of your batteries, make sure you keep them charged and don’t let them drain completely as that will greatly shorten their lifespan.
Some scooters have also had problems with poorly adjusted or misaligned disc brakes, so it is recommended that if you are purchasing this scooter online, you have someone knowledgeable assemble and adjust it after you buy it. This will ensure that you have a properly functioning scooter, as well as allow you to catch any potential problems right away.
X-Treme is not known for their friendliest service so make sure you buy your scooter from a dealer who’s willing to deal as your intermediary in case anything goes wrong.
